Who are MedicAlert?
The MedicAlert Foundation was founded as a charity in 1956 by Dr. Marion and Chrissie Collins to protect their 14-year-old daughter and others. She was given a dose of tetanus antitoxin during treatment and went into near-fatal anaphylactic shock. Luckily, she survived. He then pinned a paper label ‘allergic to tetanus toxoid’ to her coat until she got so fed up with it that he developed the first MedicAlert bracelet. The rest, as they say, is history…….
As a charity, MedicAlert is the UK’s market leader in medical ID services and is unique in its approach. Their only motivation is to do it right and help as many people as possible. They provide access to vital medical information in an emergency to anyone living with a medical condition, allergy, or other health need.
Why is MedicAlert’s service so vital?
1 in 4 people in the UK live with a medical condition that causes them to feel vulnerable in their daily lives; this affects the individual, their friends, family, and loved ones.
Your medical information. On you, Keeping you safe, Providing you with peace of mind.
MedicAlert IDs, worn on pulse points, can be lifesaving for anyone living with medical conditions in an emergency. The peace of mind they provide can support confidence to be more active physically and join in socially. Friends and family also benefit from knowing their loved ones are safe.
What do our members tell us:
With medical records accessible via our 24/7 Emergency Line. We employ Registered Nurses to check these records so that medical professionals can rely on them to quickly select the right treatment option in an emergency.
Early Start Programme
Our Early Start Programme protects vulnerable children living with medical conditions or allergies and gives peace of mind to family members. Sponsored by Lions Clubs International and match funded at 2:1 by MedicAlert, the programme provides free MedicAlert membership and a medical ID until your child’s 10th birthday.

Goodwill Project
Made possible by MedicAlert members
Our Goodwill Project supports individuals living with medical conditions, where their financial situation may prevent them from accessing MedicAlert membership or from purchasing new medical ID jewellery. This scheme, and others like it, would not be possible without the kind donations of our members and supporters.
